There Are No Words

The moon is bright over the hills tonight and the crickets are singing loudly.  I can still hear some faint Haitian music in the background. Gary the Gecko is still alive and well on the patio and my precious mission team sisters are either packing or already in bed.

There really are no words to describe what we experienced today, but I'll try anyway.  This was our last day of sewing school and we were all amazed at the quality products the ladies produced.  Shelley had told us in an early email, that if she got one accomplished seamstress out of the bunch she'd be ecstatic.  You can imagine how she felt to get so many.  And to see the joy on the faces of the ladies when they finished their coin purses or their passport holders was so gratifying.  But beyond the sewing - we formed relationships with the people - these beautiful Haitian people - our brothers and sisters in Christ!

For our last day we planned a party - with brownies, juice, certificates of completion and cards of appreciation and love.  The most amazing time was when each one of the ladies (and Junior) confidently stood up in front of the whole group and shared her heart . . . her thanksgiving to God for Shelley and the Apparent Project and to God for bringing us to Haiti.  It wasn't just in a sentence or two, but with much thought and love and dignity that they let us know we had touched their hearts as they have touched ours.

To top that off, they led us in singing "How Great Thou Art" mixing beautiful Haitian voices with ours and then they PRAYED and they PRAYED and the PRAYED for us all at the same time.  The Holy Spirit was so present in this room and we could almost feel God's arms entwined in ours.  It was hard to say good-bye, but those smiles and hugs and tears will stay with us for a long time, as will the prayers for our new Haitian friends.

We are so thankful He called us here!  We are so thankful we listened!  We are so thankful we came!  Good night from Haiti.
