TODAY'S THE DAY!

Today's the day . . . January 13th, 2011 and the eight of us leave for Haiti tonight at 10:30 p.m.  What a journey this has been so far, and we are SO EXCITED to see what God has planned for us at The Apparent Project in Port au Prince!

Will we be able to make our way through the chaotic airport?  Who will we meet?  How do we teach them to sew when they don't speak English and we don't speak Creole?  Will our sewing machines work?  How is God going to use us?  How will our hearts be broken by the sights and smells in Haiti?  (And for me, how many Kleenex do I need to pack?)

But along with all our questions, we are going, filled with CONFIRMATION that this is what God is calling us to do.  We going, filled with THANKSGIVING for all the amazing blessings we have received before we even leave Ellensburg.  We are going, filled with the PEACE that He continues to give us as we plan and pack and pray and participate in His work in our world.  We are going, not quite understanding why Susan, Shannon and Jenn aren't with us, but accepting this as part of His plan and praying for God's healing hand on the three of them.  We are going, filled with JOY that He brought us together before we even knew about The Apparent Project in Haiti and that we will forever be Sisters-in-Christ!

Thank you for joining us on this journey, whether you donated money or needed items for our mission trip, prayed FOR us or WITH us, offered a smile or some encouraging words to us, attended and/or worked in the kitchen at the Mission Dinner in October, or gave a Moment for Mission to support us.

We consider this an honor and a privilege to represent our quilting group and our church in Ellensburg as we go, in God's name, to Haiti . . . .TONIGHT!  I'll hopefully be able to post on this blog while we're there, and then we will be anxioius to share our pictures and our stories when we return.
